A captivating piece of English Staffordshire transferware, this Vintage "Avon Cottage" serving platter by J. Hughes & Son, Longport, Staffordshire, England is rendered in rich pink/cranberry on off-white. The center scene features a classic chinoiserie-inspired composition — a multi-tiered pagoda rising among lush, exotic trees in the romantic English interpretation of the Far East. The wide border is filled with bold scrolling florals and foliage, framed by a delicate dot-and-arch outer edge.
