Introduced by William Adams in 1780 as a faithful copy of a Chinese pattern, the Chinese Bird design holds the distinction of being one of the first of its style produced in English pottery. This bowl showcases the pattern's intricate cobalt blue transferware in all its glory — a dense lattice ground framing a central medallion of an exotic bird amid flowering branches, with a graceful border of scrolling motifs. A true piece of English ceramic history for the discerning collector.
